2014 Blotto Awards Night

The inaugural Blotto Christmas party and awards night was held on 11th December at the Middle Park Hotel. Food, beverages, awards and tall stories were free flowing, and insofar as it can be recalled, a great night was had by all.

Apart from an opportunity to catch up with the extended Blotto family off the bike, up for grabs were three particularly prestigious trophies; Road Race Champion, Most Tenacious Trainer & Sprint Stein…

Road Race Champion

Nine road racers among the Blotto contingent had accumulated Road Race Champion points last year, with points awarded for podiums in road races of club level or above. Taking out the inaugural was Anna who had dominated the women’s northern combine series taking out overall winner as well as collecting points in several CV open races.

Most Tenacious Trainer

The Tenacious Trainer trophy was an extremely close race, with attendance points awarded every Thursday for the 5:40am Blotto Beach Road Blast (1000 points donated by the Blotto gods are divided up by the number of riders every week).  Adrian (4798 pts) took a slim victory over Kippo (4623 pts) in the Tenacious Trainer trophy, with honorable mentions to Max (4455 pts) and Paul Kelly (4298 pts).

Sprint Stein

In the fiercely competitive Thursday morning BP sprint competition, Kippo the Keg took home the Sprint Stein with a 1450 pt victory over ‘late attack Max’ (1025 pts) and relative newcomer and hot 2015 favourite Darren (675 pts).  Kippo was reportedly still so “excited” leaving the pub that he dropped the Blotto sprint jersey on the ground and returned first thing in the morning to find it exactly where he left it!)
